Love You Forever: A Mothers Love

A children’s literature book review for Love You Forever by Robert Munsch

“I’ll love you forever,

I’ll like you for always,

as long as I’m living,

my baby you’ll be.

-Love You Forever by Robert Munsch (1986)

This book was about how great a mother’s love is.

From the moment that her son was born all she ever to show him how much she loves him. Over the years, no matter how old his son was or no matter what he became and even if her son already has a family of his own she never failed to visit him at night and rock him while he sleeps and sing him a lullaby.

This book was written for children ages 2 and above to teach children about values and just how special a mothers love is, that no matter what happened a mother will always love their children and they will never ever be alone. This book also aims to teach children that life is a cycle, once you are just a baby being taken care of and loved for and then you will eventually grow up and start your own family then the next thing you knew you will raise your children the way your mother or your parents raised you. It will teach children how important is the upbringing of the child on what they will become in the future.

What touches me the most in this story was the part where the mother is already dying and on her final moment she still tried to sing his son a lullaby. Showing that a mother will give his all just to show her child that they are loved and as much as I loved this part, this is also the worst part for me because it was so heartbreaking, I cannot imagine myself in the same position either the position of the mother or the son.

Even though this book was written for children, I believed that this book can be enjoyed by people of all ages. This book will teach about true love, about accepting love and giving love unconditionally.
